[2.5] Operators - per item permissions
As described in 'Operator permissions' operators in SproutCMS can be added to categories and these categories can have specific permissions set that govern what operators can see and do. The 'Operator permissions' manual entry looks at the broad settings available for a category of Operators - like what modules an operator can access and what functionality they can do within these modules
But as well as this, there is a way to be very granular, right down to who can edit a specific item within a module. For example, you may want a certain category of Operators to manage only a handful of events and not all events. By default this feature is not enabled in SproutCMS 3.0 because it does create more maintenance when managing your content.
Managing per record permissions

As mentioned above this feature needs to be 'turned on' for the modules (types of content) that you wish to enable it for.
To do this you must be logged in as a Primary administrator, click on the settings cog and choose 'Per record permissions'.
This will take you to a screen where you can select which modules you would like to set permissions at a granular 'per record' level.

Select which modules you would like to support this feature and 'Save' your changes.

Now when you edit a record in one of these modules you will see some additional options in the Save box:
Owner - this field is optional. An 'owner' is someone who can change all aspects of the record, effectively giving them the same rights as a 'Primary administrator' just for this record, regardless of their normal Operator status.
Allow changes by - this shows the categories of Operators that you have created in your SproutCMS Operators module.
By selecting the 'Balaklava' category this will allow any Operators within that category to manage the content of this specific item. Only items in this module with this selection made will be available to 'Balaklava' operators and in this instance also 'Primary administrators'.
If you wish this item to be avialble to all operators then you would select 'All operators'.
Note that this feature is really not applicable if you simply want to limit a category of your SproutCMS operators to acces only certain modules (events, blog etc). Rather, this feature is for when you want only certain people to manage specific items within a module.
