[8.1] Overview
Go to Modules > Forms and click the 'Add form +' button.
Details tab
Here you give your form a name and set up some fundamental details like who will recieve submissions and any user confirmation messages (you can change all this later if you need to).
Fields tab
This is where you create the specific fields that people will be able to fill in on your form.
Each field has:
Type - this is the type of field and there are quite a few types. 'Text' is an all purpose plain text field, appropriate for things like name and organisation and address lines, 'Email' is appropriate for email address, 'Number' is good for phone numbers. Some fields require more information as you choose them. For example ‘checkboxes’, ‘drop down list’ and 'radio buttons' will require you to enter options for the checkboxes - these are entered as one option for each line.
For example, if you select the type 'radio buttons’ and enter this as the options:
Yes
No
Maybe
..it will produce 3 radio buttons for whatever question you have specified in the name field.
Label - this appears on the page as the label or question for the field
Then on each field there are 2 options:
Display in submissions - here you are just determining if the field is displayed when you are doing a quick preview of the form submissions in the admin area.
Required field - here you are determining if the field is mandatory for the user to complete.
Click the ‘add a field’ button to add another field. Keep doing this until all of your fields are in place.
Submissions tab
Here you can:
- Preview any submissions that have been made via the form
- Search for a specific submission and view the full submission
- Export submissions as a csv or xml file
Categories tab
You can assign it to a category or add a new category (this is usually just for your own organisational purposes).
Finalising your form
You can preview a form by hitting the 'Preview' link next to the Save Changes button.
Once it is all ready to go the form will need to be put onto a page on your website by editing your chosen page and adding a 'form' content block.
