[7.2] Blog - editing
Go to the Blog module by clicking into the Modules tab, then within the Blog box, select Blog posts.
Locate the post by clicking on the category it belongs to or by using the search tool above the main list view.
Click onto the blog post row in the main list.
This will bring up the options that you need to edit your blog post.
Details
Post title: Give the blog a name. The name will be displayed as the heading of your blog on the website.
Blog author: select the author responsible for this post. To learn how to manage these authors, see the manual entry on Blog authors.
Content: Add the main content of your blog post. Note that you can insert images, create links and format your post any way you like.
Image: This is the image that will be associated with the blog post when it is viewed in a list of posts. If you choose to make the image a "Feature image (large display") it will display this image above the post in a full width view. You can select an image already uploaded into the Media Repository or upload a new image from you computers hard drive. For more on this, see the manual entry on Sprout Controls > Files within a module.
Options
Display date: this is the date that will display on the page with the blog post.
Social share: This allows you to specify if you wish to allow people to share this with the social networks Facebook and Twitter.
Comments mode: this relates to allowing the public to leave comments on your blog post. The 3 options are:
- Off - this will not allow commenting
- On - this will allow commenting*
- Closed - this will indicate that comments for this post have now closed
- Note that if comments are allowed there will need to be a configuration set on the website to determine if admin will pre or post moderate comments.
Reminder date: this is the date that a specified administrator will be sent an email reminding them to check on the validity of the blog post. This is typically for posts that may date badly in terms of content relevance.
Reminder email: enter the email address for who you would like to send a 'reminder email' to.
Date launch: this is the date that the post will appear on the website
Date expire: this is the date the post should come down from the website
Categories
Assign the blog you're adding to an existing category, or add a new category in the textbox below if nothing suits. Categories are used in different ways depending on the needs of the site, but typically we use blog categories to group posts so that we can implement filtering for the public or even create pages that just show a specific group of posts.
Save options
Visibility: Ticking 'active' means the blog will be displayed on the website. Unticking 'Active' means the blog will not be displayed. You can change this at any point in the future.
Subsite: If you see a 'Subsite' option when you go to save your blog post this means that your SproutCMS is powering multiple websites. Change the subsite to indicate which site this post should appear on.
Hit Save Changes and your blog will have successfully been added!
